Q: why one cannot operate the machine as soon as it is switched on?

A: For the safety of hydraulic motor, screw, barrel and the hydraulic cylinders, controller disables moving mechanism until the barrel’s temperature reaches the point where all of the raw materials inside are molten.

Q: Why molten plastic leaks between nozzle tip and sprue bushing?

A: Material leakage between nozzle tip and sprue can be due mismatch of sprue to the nozzle tip or installing the mold without locating ring. Damaged carriage cylinder packings, directional control valve and check valve can also be the other reasons of this problem.

Q: Product has flash

A: first, readjust speed and pressure of injection stage, so that it is not much higher the required amount. Then readjust clamping force if the machine’s capacity allows this. Flashes can also be occurred when clamping platens are not parallel enough; solving this problem is an almost complicated procedure and it must only take place by NBM technicians.

Q: Despite plasticizing motor is functioning, material is not being fed.

A: Material feeding dysfunction can be occurred due to some reasons including an empty plasticizing barrel, unnecessarily extreme back pressure magnitude, high temperature at the front of plasticizing barrel and incompatible feeding settings when new material is being used.

Q: Why the clamping unit is not opening smoothly?

A: Clamp strike at the time of opening happens due to excessive clamping force or high speed and pressure of opening stage. It can also be caused by worn or loosed bushings of the clamping unit.

Q: Oil temperature inordinately increases during operation.

A: Examine the water inlet of heat exchanger. Check if the difference between water inlet and outlet is about 10 degree C. This problem can be the result of insufficient capacity of chiller or cooling. In rare cases a malfunction in the hydraulic system may be the cause of this problem.

Q: Alarm 988 is displayed on the controller.

A: Alarm 988 is associated with heater bands or oil temperature and it can be due to pouring of molten material on heating elements, heaters’ electrical wires disconnection, thermocouples malfunction or inverter noise problem (if inverter is installed).

Q: Hydraulic pump whines or sounds irregularly.

A: Unusual sounds of hydraulic pump can be occurred when the main proportional electro-hydraulic valve is out of calibration. Other reasons to this problem are, oil’s excessive temperature, clogged or dirty of the filters, dirty oil, insufficient oil in the tank, trapped air in the hydraulic circuit, blocked hydraulic circuit or pump working under too heavy pressure.

Q: Clamping unit makes noise during operation.

A: This can be due to inappropriate lubrication of the clamping unit which is caused by incorrect control settings, leakage or blockage of lubrication circuit, moving of the movable platen with utmost high speed and broken parts such as pins and bushings.

Q: Lubricating system malfunctioning alarm.

A: Lubricating system alarm can be due to the lack of lubricating gel, dirty filters, leakage in the circuit and malfunction of components including relay switches, controller mainboard and lubrication pressure switch.

Q: Band heaters are not getting hot.

A: The electrical wirings connected to heaters may have a malfunction or the miniature circuit breaker is switched off.

Q: Screen is not turning on.

A: Short circuit in power supply of the control panel.

Q: Heaters are heating up continuously and can’t be controlled.

A: SSR or Contactors do are not working or damaged.

Q: Ejector cylinder alarm is displayed when clamping unit is in closed position.

A: First, check if the linear position transducer is at origin (zero location), then inspect ejector cylinder functionality.

Q: Mold height adjustment mechanism is not working properly.

A: Check electric voltage of the corresponding hydraulic valve, the supplied power must be 24 DC. Check if the clamping unit platens are parallel.
